The big question is: what kind of water am I drinking, and what kind am I sharing with thirsty people?

Looking forward to the book. Much needed in these days of misinformation and information overwhelm and ceaseless gloom and doom!

While the metaphor mud vs clean water works well as a parallel to lies vs truth, it does not work well in more difficult territory where all you have is shades of mud. And our news is more like shades of mud. Everybody has a set of incentives and a set of values that are axiomatic. Given this starting point, we cannot talk about objective news or truth. We can talk about better or worse interpretations.

Look forward to hearing more in any case.

A comment on reliable sources. I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, he mentioned that after an interview with the New York Times, he was fact checked. Later, he was advised that he was incorrect on something that he believed as fact. He found it refreshing, yet humbling. He laughed and said all podcasters should be fact checked, but admitted that it would doom the industry. Ha ha ha.

Just reading Tim Snyders book,”Road to Unfreedom” even what might be shoe leather journalism or legacy sources may be tainted with today’s technology. But yes very insightful and helpful.
