The part that stung was recognizing why I once wanted to take one of these tests. I wasn't curious about where my ancestors lived. I was shopping for a story with better billing. I remember actually hoping for something rare in the results, some thin strand I could mention at dinners, because it would let me feel distinctive without having done anything to earn it. It felt like a credential nobody could ask me to demonstrate. Your one hundred percent African answer is funny precisely because it hands everyone the same certificate, and a certificate everyone holds is useless to the part of me that wanted one.
Hi, Lois. I agree that you don't have a SINGLE drop of African in you. To the contrary EVERY drop is African, in the sense that if you go back 70,000 years, ALL OF YOUR DIRECT ANCESTORS lived in Africa.
If you think I am mistaken in believing this, do me a favor and point me toward a published scientific article that says otherwise.
I tried both a DNA test (the results were really interesting!) and putting together a family tree using the documents I found at home. I managed to trace my family back four generations, so we’re talking about the mid-1800s! I felt really satisfied.
Hiya lovely, I think you may have skipped over the following sentence which was tongue in cheek saying everyone is of African ancestry (which is true btw if you go far back enough!) so they already did our ancestry for us. :-)

Are you serious!!!All humans have 100%African ancestry!?
You’re spreading outright crap, theres NO WAY I have a single drop of African in me.

How do you do the research without charging? Also, how are you contacted? I don’t think I even really understand what Substack is
