In my previous post, I explained how, according to evolutionary biologists, our ancestors gained the ability to experience emotions, and sometime later gained the ability to reason.
What do you think which naturalistic philosophies like Stoicism and Epicureanism fit in these findings of neurology and the role of Emotions/ Pleasure/ Pain and Reason ? What is the core of building personal values ?
I'm thinking that we humans may not be capable of answering your three questions, Professor. This is not to say we should stop trying. If these three questions present impenetrable boundaries to our knowing, we must not fall back on any arguments from ignorance, such as "God did it" or "matter is conscious." We must be happy to live with the mystery, in the best sense of the word.

perhaps personal values are somehow bound to emerge given the wiring.

I have an art pastel of the essential neuron to enjoy in awe, what a computer!
We have all the chemicals in our brains to not need outside stimuli.
Quite sobering…no pun intended. 🫶🏾
